Dennis Johnson was drafted 29th overall in 1976 by the Seattle SuperSonics, Johnson began his professional career as a shooting guard. He eventually led the Sonics to their only NBA championship in 1979, winning the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award. He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. On the left front tail is the “Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag with wash instructions and jersey size “42”. Directly above is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Seattle SuperSonics” tag. Across the front is “SONICS”. Player number “24” appears on both the front and back. Player name “D. JOHNSON appears across the back. All numbers and letters are done in yellow on white tackle twill. Inside the rear waistband of the shorts are three “Sand-Knit” tags; one with wash instructions and size “34”, the “Exclusive” tag and the “Washington-Oregon Athletics” distributors tag. The uniform shows great game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind. This is the only DJ Sonics uniform we have ever seen and is photomatched to Game 6 of the 1978 NBA Finals.
